Bayern Munich, renowned for their attacking prowess and domestic dominance, will look to make a statement in front of their home fans. Meanwhile, RB Leipzig, the younger pretender who are now an established club in the country, will aim to upset the Bavarian giants and showcase their credentials as serious title contenders.

Bayern Munich Form
Bayern Munich, the most successful club in Bundesliga history, continues to set the benchmark for excellence in German football. The Bavarians faced a tough campaign last season that saw them lose the league to Bayer Leverkusen who later ended the season in imperious and unbeaten fashion. Bayern Munich tickets continue to be in high demand as they now aim to regain their crown in German football.
This season, Bayern have been clinical in front of goal, with their attacking players consistently hitting the back of the net. The likes of Harry Kane and Micheal Olise have turned up, hence their 33 goals scored in just 13 games. Kane has 14 goals an 5 assists in 12 games, Olise with 5 and 3 in 13, and Jamal Musiala scoring 8 in 11 games.
Their midfield has been good too, with the likes of Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka pulling the strings.
Vincent Kompany will hope to win this game as it will surely rank high among one of the title deciding games in the league. The former Manchester City defender has come in for some criticism for his team’s Champions League performances that have seen the team lose two of their five games in the competition.
A win in this game would not only strengthen Bayern’s position at the top of the table but also serve as a psychological blow to their rivals, RB Leipzig. The former Anderlecht manager and captain Joshua Kimmich had this to say after their team’s win against St Pauli;
Vincent Kompany:
“We felt how special this stadium is. The preparation for the match wasn’t easy after the Champions League game on Wednesday. We played against a team with high energy, who were very compact. Defensively we did well; that was definitely our strong point today. We weren’t as effective going forward as we have been of late.”
“They made it difficult for us. Even after we scored the goal, St. Pauli saw their game plan through. They went for it more at the end. It was a tough game but we did well.”
Joshua Kimmich:
“You can’t always win pretty, even though it can sometimes be pretty when you win 1-0. It was a difficult game for us today but we remained patient and didn’t encourage the opponents. They defended well and concentrated on defending for 90 minutes, which then isn’t that easy for us. You obviously hope that the opponents play a bit and give up spaces. Unfortunately that didn’t happen today, but we saw it out confidently.”

RB Leipzig form
RB Leipzig, a club that has quickly risen through the ranks of German football, have established themselves as a force to be reckoned with. They are mostly all about their high energy pressing and quick counter attacks, Leipzig definitely have the tools to cause problems for any team in the league.
This season, Leipzig led by Marco Rose have done quite well in the league. Their main striker, Benjamin Sesko who joined from their sister club, RB Salzburg has been in fine form, while their midfield has provided a good balance between creativity and defensive solidity.
However, their relatively young squad will need to show composure and resilience to succeed against a team of Bayern’s calibre and quality.
For Leipzig, this game is a wonderful opportunity to close the gap on the league leaders and send a message of intent to the rest of the Bundesliga. Manager Marco Rose had this to say after the goalless draw vs Mochengladbach;
“We would have liked to come away with the win today, but Borussia Mönchengladbach are a good side. We were missing intensity and the right mindset in our two recent defeats, so I was hoping to see a different performance today, and I did. We keep coming up against different obstacles at the moment.”
“The first half was a little clunky, but we were very strong after the break. We just weren’t precise enough in the final third. We played a lot of crosses, but they lacked accuracy. I can live with a point because the team delivered what I asked of them in the last few days.”
